How to Make NEAAD a Better REGION!
Hi
I would like to discuss how to make NEAAD a better region to
play in. We need to attract more teams and talent to our region if we want to survive.
Recently NSAD passed a new by-law increasing the number of free agents a team can sign up. I believe this will result in players leaving our
region to play elsewhere. Why?
1) The competition is greater in other regions. The more talented players want to play on teams that get farther in the national tournament.
Minutemen Take 2nd Place in NEAAD Regional Tournament
The Minutemen went 4-2 at the NEAAD regional tournamant on July 18, 2009. Despite having the best record of the day, the Minutemen did not go take home the championship trophy. However, they were champions in spirit. Having given up every ounce of energy to make it to the championship game, they held the lead until the last inning at 8-5. Hartford managed to load the bases and the moment that seemed destined to happened had arrived. Edgardo (Eggy) Rivera came to bat with the bases loaded, needing 4 runs to win. He hit a walk-off inside-the-park grand-slam.
Minutemen take 3rd in NJ Bombers' Invitational
The story is just beginning to trickle in. The Minutemen went 4-3 in Lakewood, NJ and took 3rd place.
"We played hard even though we didn't have a full team," said Anthony "Prima" Donatello.
"I believe there is room for improvement, but I think we earned respect from others. I look forward to playing again as a full team." added Jeff Bailey. Jeff Bailey made several diving catches.
Dave Garrison and Chris Furzland each clubbed 3 homers. They each hit a grand-slam too. Dave and Chris gave high reviews to the new team bat, a Miken Psycho SuperMax.
MetroWest Take Second Place in Holyoke Invitational
Hello Everyone!
There was an exciting Holyoke Invitational Slo-Pitch Softball tournament three days ago on June 6th, in Springfield, Mass. chaired by Bruce Beston. We, the NEAAD officers would like to tip our hats to Bruce for his hard work during the tournament on such a short notice. With his help, the tournament itself was a huge success.
The result of Round Robin:

The Return of a Man Named Rollie ("The Finger")
5/20/2009
The Minutemen were boosted by the comeback of a Minutemen co-founder, Roland Demers. In his return to the field, Roland helped pitch the Minutemen to an 8-3 victory over the Mellen Street squad. The defense was again solid, allowing only 3 runs and not allowing more than a run in an inning.
Minutemen Put up a 10 to down TJ's
5/16/2009
The Minutemen continued to party in the Ashland league, beating TJ's 19-6. The offense was led by Dave Garrison who went 4-4, with 2 runs and an RBI. Joe Neely and Dan Chorlton each knocked in 5 runs. The defense was led by Donald Slate (SS) and Kevin Ahern (3B) who combined for 7 outs and assists.
Minutemen Put Down Medina Sod
The Minutemen worked on their grass growing technique, putting down Medina Sod in a 6 inning, mercy-rule shortened contest. The game started out hot, with Medina planting 4 runs in the top of the 1st. The Minutemen responded in the bottom frame by mowing down the Medina defense with 6 runs.
Minutemen Fall to Plaza Barber Shop
A late inning rally from the Plaza Barber Shop handed the Minutemen their first loss of 2009. Despite having scored in the first 6 innings for the 3rd game in-a-row, and leading going into the last inning, 14-8, the Minutemen could not close out the game over the 2008 Ashland league champs.
Minutemen off to a Rip-roaring Start
Minutemen off to a Rip-roaring Start
The MetroWest Minutemen's softball season is only 3 games old but they have been tearing up the league. We won on Monday (5/4/2009) in a mercy-rule shortened contest. We beat the Veteran's 23-2 in 5 innings. After the first inning we were up 8-2, having batted around. We did not allow another run after that point, playing crisp defense.
